Soils: Quartz gravel, sandy loam
Winemaking: From our north facing slopes high on the valley side of the property, this fruit captures the full sunlight and cool maritime breezes. Low yielding cropping levels to ensure maximum sugar and flavour ratio. Hand-picked, basket pressed with fermentation in open vats to ensure gentle tannin extraction. Barrel aged for 24 months in 100% Grande Reserve French Oak barriques with the new oak component being 35% with 2, 3 and 4 year oak old barriques.
Minimal intervention when bottled.
Tasting Comments: This vintage sees the first time our two clones of Merlot blended; Clone 18 from Bordeaux and the Napa Valley Clone. Clone 18 brings a highly perfumed nose with aromas of ripe fruit, raspberries, Christmas pudding, blackberry and hints of burnt sugar from the oak. All the fruits follow through to the palate giving a complete mouth feel and finishing with finesse and length.
Minimum order quantitiy is six bottles (either all the same wine, or a selection to make a mixed box). A 10% discount is offered on purchases of 6 bottles, and 15% discount for 12 bottles of more.
