Torpedo Rocks Malbec 2021
Yield: 4 tonne/hectare
Soils: Sandy loam, alluvial flats and quartz gravel
Winemaking: Dry grown, hand-picked, basket pressed - 10% being whole bunches - malolactic fermentation in barrel. Aged for 18 months in 100% Grande Reserve French Oak used with the new oak component being 35% with 2, and 3 year old oak barriques. The new oak percentage has come from middle of the Forrest growth oak with a tighter knit and seamless feel.
Minimal intervention when bottled.
Tasting comments: The 2021 vintage has produced a slightly lighter bodied Malbec but one where the fruit is certainly not diminished. The inky purple colour leads into a palate full of summer fruits, morello cherry, mulberries, rich plums and teasing mocha notes. Being unfiltered it is rich in the mouth but not heavy making it an ideal wine to have with or without food.
