Torpedo Rocks Cabernet Merlot 2017
54% Cabernet Sauvignon / 45% Merlot
Yield: 4 tonne/hectare
Soils: Black loam over limestone, sandy loam over clay and non wettable sandy loam over clay
Winemaking: A selection of cabernet picked from various paddocks within the vineyard - low yields to ensure maximum sugar and flavour ratio. Hand-picked, basket pressed with fermentation in open vats to ensure gentle tannin extraction. Barrel aged for 18 months. 100% Grande Reserve French Oak used with the new oak component being 35% with 2 to 4 year old oak barriques.
Minimal intervention when bottled.
Tasting Comments: The 2017 vintage with its warmer summer and longer ripening season has created a wine with lots of cassis and red berry fruit undertones. The palate is long with the black current, black cherries, plums and dark chocolate with gentle tannins. The lasting impression is the Merlot on the back palate. A medium bodied wine with great palate length. This wine can be drunk as a meal prep, with dinner or cellaring for 10 years.
Minimum order quantitiy is six bottles (either all the same wine, or a selection to make a mixed box). A 10% discount is offered on purchases of 6 bottles, and 15% discount for 12 bottles of more.
