Torpedo Rocks Reserve Shiraz 2018

Torpedo Rocks Reserve Shiraz 2018

100% Shiraz

Yield: 4 tonne/hectare

Soils: Black sandy loam over limestone with a high ph.

Winemaking: Dry grown, hand-picked, basket pressed in whole bunches, malolactic fermentation in barrel. Aged for 18 months in 10% Grande Reserve American Oak and 90% Grande Reserve French Oak used with the new oak component being 35% with 2, and 3 year old oak barriques. The new oak percentage has come from middle of the Forrest growth oak with a tighter knit and seamless feel.

Minimal intervention when bottled.

Tasting Comments: The 2018 vintage represents an excellent example of a cool climate shiraz with the overall expression of the wine being more fruit focused with teasing spices. Full flavours of blackfruits, brambles, stewed red plums, milk chocolate, subtle baking spices, mature cigar box with soft secondary notes of black cardamon and allspice fill your glass then follow through to the palate. The oak and tannin structure is seamless and well balanced. This style does not need food, just a bad day with a cheesy TV show.
