Torpedo Rocks Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon 2017
96% Cabernet / 4% Malbec
Yield: 4 tonne/hectare
Soils: Alluvial flats and quartz gravel. Sandy loam and non wettable sandy loam
Winemaking: Dry grown, hand-picked, basket pressed - 10% being whole bunches - malolactic fermentation in barrel. Aged for 18 months in 100% Grande Reserve French Oak used with the new oak component being 35% with 2, and 3 year old oak barriques. The new oak percentage has come from middle of the Forrest growth oak with a tighter knit and seamless feel.
Minimal intervention when bottled.
Tasting Comments:The colour is a deep purple red with a magenta rim.The bouquet is of dark & deep briary notes, raspberries, plums, cherries – almost a summer pudding - and finishes with hints of chocolate. The palate is silky and viscous which reveals layer upon layer of ripe morello cherry flavours, cocoa bean and baked fruits. A big and luscious mouth feel that continues well after your first sip. This is a well balanced and elegant expression of the varietal making no mistake of its birth right.
