Torpedo Rocks Reserve Cabernet Malbec 2016
91% Cabernet / 9% Malbec
Yield: 4 tonne/hectare
Soils: Alluvial flats and quartz gravel. Sandy loam and non wettable sandy loam
Winemaking: Dry grown, hand-picked, basket pressed - 10% being whole bunches - malolactic fermentation in barrel. Aged for 22 months in 100% Grande Reserve French Oak used with the new oak component being 35% with 2, and 3 year old oak barriques. The new oak percentage has come from middle of the Forrest growth oak with a tighter knit and seamless feel.
Minimal intervention when bottled.
Tasting Comments: The Malbec has altered the colour to a deep purple red with a bright magenta trim. The bouquet is that of spring fruits -black cherries, plums, raspberries and a little bit of Nanna’s fruit cake. The cabernet comes through with a full bodied mouth feel driven by rich black fruits, hints of vanilla and chocolate bean. Middle of the forest grown oak makes the tannins and wine well balanced with an elegant finish. This wine will develop with cellaring and would appreciate a decant before drinking.
Minimum order quantitiy is six bottles (either all the same wine, or a selection to make a mixed box). A 10% discount is offered on purchases of 6 bottles, and 15% discount for 12 bottles of more.
