Torpedo Rocks Reserve Cabernet Malbec Merlot 2015
70% Cabernet / 15% Malbec / 15% Merlot
Yield: 4 tonne/hectare
Soils: Alluvial flats and quartz gravel. Sandy loam and non wettable sandy loam
Winemaking: Dry grown, hand-picked, basket pressed - 10% being whole bunches - malolactic fermentation in barrel. Aged for 22 months in 100% Grande Reserve French Oak used with the new oak component being 35% with 2, and 3 year old oak barriques. The new oak percentage has come from middle of the Forrest growth oak with a tighter knit and seamless feel.
Minimal intervention when bottled.
Tasting Comments: The palate weight of this wine sits between the Cabernet Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon. The Malbec deepens the colour to an inky purple black and perfumes the nose with morello cherries along with Cabernet’s rich red fruits of raspberries and cassis. The palate is very red fruit driven with plums and blackberry with savoury notes and firm tannins. The Merlot softens the overall impact but it has lovely palate length and finish.
Minimum order quantitiy is six bottles (either all the same wine, or a selection to make a mixed box). A 10% discount is offered on purchases of 6 bottles, and 15% discount for 12 bottles of more.
